Getting started with treatment

The most common questions we hear from families are about speed of admission, insurance coverage, and who we treat. Here are the answers.

How quickly can someone be admitted?

In many cases, same-day admission is possible after a brief clinical and financial review. Our admissions team is available 24/7. When you call, we conduct an initial assessment, verify insurance benefits, and match you to the appropriate level of care. For urgent situations, we prioritize rapid triage and can often arrange admission within hours. The exact timeline depends on clinical need, bed availability, and insurance authorization. We work to minimize delays at every step.

Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid?

Yes. We work with Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, TriCare, and self-pay pathways. Our admissions team verifies benefits before admission and explains coverage—including deductibles, copays, and any out-of-pocket costs. We do not want financial surprises to delay or prevent treatment. If you are unsure about your coverage, call our line; we can typically complete a benefits check within minutes.

Can teens and adults both be treated?

Yes. We offer age-tailored tracks for adolescents (ages 13–17) and adult populations. Our adolescent program is available at select campuses and includes school continuity support, family therapy, and developmentally appropriate programming. Adult programs serve ages 18 and older across all six campuses. We also offer young adult programming for ages 18–25 and senior-focused care for older adults. Our admissions team can assess and recommend the right fit.

Do you offer detox and outpatient?

Yes. We provide the full continuum: medical detox, inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient. Most clients begin at detox or inpatient and step down through levels as they meet clinical milestones. We also serve clients who enter at IOP or outpatient when that level is appropriate. Discharge planning begins at admission to ensure continuity.

Can family members participate?

Family therapy and caregiver planning are integrated across most care pathways. We offer family therapy sessions, family education programs, and structured visitation. During early detox or inpatient stabilization, contact may be limited to protect the client's focus; as treatment progresses, family involvement typically increases. Research consistently shows that family engagement improves treatment retention and long-term outcomes. Our family services team coordinates with the clinical team to support both the client and the family.

Treatment & Recovery

Understanding the treatment experience

Questions about levels of care, medications, length of stay, and life after treatment.

What is the difference between inpatient and residential?

Inpatient treatment is typically higher acuity, with more frequent physician and psychiatric involvement, 24/7 nursing, and shorter stays (5–14 days). Residential treatment emphasizes structured therapeutic living over a longer horizon (28–90 days) for clients who are medically stable but need immersive support. Both offer intensive programming; the key difference is clinical intensity and length of stay. Our admissions team uses the ASAM Criteria to recommend the appropriate level.

Do you offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

Yes. We offer MAT for opioid and alcohol use disorders, including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and other FDA-approved medications. MAT is integrated with counseling and behavioral therapy across our continuum. We view medication as a tool that supports recovery, not a substitute for it. MAT reduces cravings, prevents overdose, and improves long-term outcomes. Our physicians tailor every MAT plan to individual needs.

What should I bring to treatment?

Bring 7–14 days of comfortable clothing, toiletries (no alcohol-based products), prescription medications in original bottles, government-issued ID, insurance card, and a list of emergency contacts. Leave behind weapons, alcohol, drugs, excessive cash, and valuables. Most programs provide a detailed packing list upon admission. Ask the admissions team for campus-specific guidance.

How long does treatment last?

Length varies by level of care and individual progress. Medical detox typically runs 3–10 days. Inpatient stays are often 5–14 days. Residential treatment commonly runs 28–90 days. PHP may run 2–6 weeks, and IOP 4–12 weeks. We do not use arbitrary timelines; length is determined by clinical progress and discharge planning. Our treatment teams assess readiness for step-down based on engagement and stability.

What happens after discharge?

Discharge planning begins at admission. We coordinate step-down care—often IOP or outpatient—and connect clients with sober housing, outpatient providers, and community resources when appropriate. Our alumni program conducts follow-up at 30, 60, 90, and 180 days post-discharge. We support continuity and facilitate re-admission when a higher level of care is needed. Recovery is a journey, and we walk it with our clients long after they leave our campuses.
