Aftercare and Alumni at RVK Treatment

How RVK Treatment approaches this level of care

Discharge from primary treatment is a transition, not an ending. At RVK Treatment, our aftercare and alumni program provides ongoing support for clients who have completed detox, inpatient, residential, or intensive outpatient care. We conduct follow-up at 30, 60, 90, and 180 days post-discharge, connect clients to community resources, and facilitate re-admission when a higher level of care is needed.

Our alumni care team maintains relationships with former clients long after they leave our campuses. We help connect them to outpatient providers, sober housing, peer support groups, and employment resources. We track relapse events, step-down compliance, and re-admission rates—not to judge, but to improve our protocols and identify clients who need additional support. Many alumni report that knowing we are still here makes a difference in their recovery.

Alumni groups and events provide community beyond formal treatment. Peers who have walked the same path offer accountability, hope, and practical wisdom. We host virtual and in-person alumni gatherings when possible, and we encourage alumni to stay connected through our care coordination team. Recovery thrives in community, and we work to sustain that community after discharge.

Re-admission is always an option. If a former client experiences relapse or needs to return to a higher level of care, we welcome them back without shame. Setbacks are part of the recovery journey for many people; what matters is getting back into care quickly. Our admissions team can expedite re-admission for alumni and connect them with the appropriate level of care.

If you are a former RVK client or are considering treatment and want to learn more about our aftercare support, call our admissions line. We are committed to walking the recovery journey with you—before, during, and long after your time in our care.

Aftercare and alumni services benefit every client who completes primary treatment at RVK, regardless of their level of care, substance of choice, or length of stay. The transition from structured treatment back to daily life is widely recognized as one of the highest-risk periods for relapse, and our aftercare program is specifically designed to bridge that gap. Clients who are returning to work, re-entering family life, relocating to new housing, or navigating other major transitions are particularly well-served by the sustained support our alumni program provides. We also engage clients who completed treatment at other facilities and are seeking ongoing community and accountability.

Our aftercare programming includes weekly alumni support groups—both in-person and virtual—facilitated by licensed clinicians. These groups provide a structured space for alumni to process ongoing challenges, celebrate milestones, practice relapse prevention skills, and maintain the peer connections formed during treatment. Individual check-in calls from our alumni care coordinators occur at scheduled intervals and can be requested anytime a graduate feels their recovery is at risk. We also offer continuing education workshops on topics such as stress management, relationship skills, financial wellness, and career development—addressing the life domains that support sustainable recovery beyond abstinence alone.

Our care coordination team serves as a central hub for alumni resources. We maintain an updated database of sober living homes, outpatient providers, peer support groups, employment assistance programs, and community services across the regions we serve. When an alumnus needs a referral—whether for a new therapist after relocating, a sober living recommendation, or help navigating an insurance change—our team provides personalized guidance. We also coordinate with active treatment providers when an alumnus is engaged in ongoing outpatient care, ensuring continuity and alignment of clinical goals across settings.

Family members of alumni are welcome to participate in aftercare programming. Our family support groups continue post-discharge, providing a space for loved ones to share experiences, learn ongoing strategies for supporting recovery, and process their own emotional journey. We find that families who remain engaged in aftercare alongside their loved one's recovery demonstrate stronger communication patterns, healthier boundaries, and greater resilience when challenges arise. Our family services team is available for consultation calls and can arrange family therapy sessions on an as-needed basis for alumni and their families.

Research on aftercare engagement consistently shows that clients who participate in ongoing support services after completing primary treatment have significantly better long-term outcomes—including higher sustained sobriety rates, improved mental health, greater employment stability, and stronger social support networks. At RVK Treatment, we track alumni engagement metrics, re-admission rates, and self-reported recovery status at 30, 60, 90, 180, and 365 days post-discharge. This longitudinal data informs our program design and allows us to identify alumni who may benefit from proactive outreach. Our commitment to aftercare reflects our core belief that recovery is a lifelong journey, and that the relationship between a treatment center and its graduates should extend far beyond the discharge date.
